- Chelsea are the Premiership favourites

Chelsea are leading the table after four rounds and the Blues definitely look like the most serious title contenders. They have a great chance this season as their rivals are all struggling to cope with the changes in the team, whereas the only change at Stamford Bridge was that involving Carlo Ancelotti, who is doing a great job so far. We are yet to see the team will fare against direct title rivals but the first signs are, nevertheless, very positive.
Ancelotti’s 4-4-2 diamond formation is in full working order, with Anelka and Drogba proving everyone they CAN play together. The excellent partnership the two players have created is one of the reasons behind the great start of the season, but all the players have been playing very well lately. The Italian coach doesn’t have too big a squad to choose from but his side do have a sufficient strength in depth, mostly because all the midfield players are capable of covering any of the four positions in the centre of the park. It is evident the players are full of confidence after the good start and they all believe this will be Chelsea’s season.
Ancelotti has already started rotating his squad, and although some would argue it is a bit early for that, his rotation policy is likely to have a very good effect later on. The boss only changes two or three players per game, thus the results don’t suffer, while at the same time the players are not getting tired. Chelsea are finally playing attractive football and winning in stile, which wasn’t very characteristic for the Blues in the Roman Abramovich era and their fans have every reason to feel optimistic at the moment.
The situation with injuries is also very good as Zhirkov, Joe Cole and Belletti have resumed training and they will be fit to play once the Premiership campaign continues after the international break. That will add even more depth to the squad Chelsea can be expected to continue with great performances. Even though it is still early into the season, I am seriously thinking about taking the odds of 2.25 offered by Ladbrokers on Chelsea to win the Premier League title.
