Hiddink – the bookies favourite to stay in charge at Chelsea
Chelsea were considered to be among the favourites for the Premier League title this season and the good start to the league campaign under the new manager Luis Felipe Scolari seemed as the taste of things to come. However, Scolari quickly lost control of his team and the players started questioning his coaching methods. It became clear that Scolari was nearing the exit door and it seemed that Roman Abramovich was just waiting for a string of poor results to sack the Portuguese manager. This is precisely what happened and Abramovich made a right decision as the season threatened to turn into an utter disappointment.

That is when Abramovich made probably the best decision in his career as the club owner, having brought experienced Guus Hiddink to manage the team until the end of the season. Nobody believed that Hiddink could make any significant difference even though his managerial credentials were never questioned. Nevertheless, The Dutch manager quickly showed why he had enjoyed a lot of success in every club he had managed as he helped the team kick-start their season and soon everybody was delighted with his contribution to the team. He improved the atmosphere in the team in no time and revived some of the players that had been forgotten under Scolari. The Blues returned to the right track with a series of impressive results and the team are still contention for three major trophies. Hiddink kept the things tight at the back, whereas attack are now even more ruthless with Drogba and Anelka often being played together.
Everyone who has Chelsea close to their hearts would be delighted to see the Dutchman stay at the helm for as long as possible but the only problem is that Hiddink has promised that he would leave the club at the end of the season and return to manage Russian national team. Chelsea fans are hoping that he will change his mind should the team win one of the big trophies this season but nobody really knows who will manage the Blues next season. If you have a clue of who the next manager will be, here are the betting odds for some of the favourites at Ladbrokes:
